Parents,
Have you ever wondered whether or not you are doing it right, or doubted that you are for that matter? There isn’t a book for this parenting thing. Well, there are, but the ones I have read didn’t cover everything.
Doubting yourself, wondering if you are doing it right, in my opinion, both are indicators of someone who is doing it exactly right.
You don’t ask yourself those types of questions if you don’t care, and caring is the most important part of parenting.
You are going to make mistakes. I made lots. It comes with the territory.
There are going to be challenges. Lots of them, and a number of them created by your child directly. If you all knew the things I put my parents through… I got pretty lucky, both my kids turned out pretty well, but they both challenged me often.
Love them. Guide them where they need guidance. Do your best. They may not fully appreciate you in the moment, but they will.
Personally, I was about 25 with kids of my own trying to hold a household together before I really began to appreciate mine and all they did for me. Today, I miss them both dearly. I would not be who I am today were it not for them, and even though as most do I told myself over and over I wasn’t going to be like them, I am probably more like them today than ever.
If they haven’t told you today, let me. Thank you for all that you do Parents.
Best Regards,
Jimmy
